Five questions with Lauren Ritt

Editor’s note: Every Wednesday throughout the offseason, we’ll catch up with volleyball support staff for five questions.

Lauren Ritt | Sr. | Four-year student manager | Virginia Beach, Va.

Q: How did you get started with the game of volleyball?

RITT: “I started playing travel volleyball when I was 11 years old and I played all the way through high school. I also continued in college with Tech’s club team. It’s always been a huge part of my life. I played all through middle school and high school, and all year round with beach in the summer.”

Q: What made you get involved with volleyball?

RITT: “When I was younger, I just played every sport I could just to see what I liked. Volleyball was the one that stuck. But I literally played everything growing up (laughing).”

Q: With being a student manager for four years, what was the most fulfilling part of the job?

RITT: “I really enjoyed being a part of everything since I was not playing at the collegiate level. I really liked being involved, it gave me an unique experience because I got to be at everything and travel everywhere. But I just loved being a part of it, that was the most fulfilling thing for me.”

Q: With you graduating this spring, how much will you miss it and will you come back this fall and watch some matches?

RITT: “I’m absolutely coming back to catch a match. I’m definitely going to miss the people, team, coaches and staff. But I’m ready to get to the next point of my life.”

Q: Speaking of the next part of your life, what does the future entail for you?

RITT: “I’m moving to Richmond and will become a marketing specialist for a healthcare provider for geriatrics. It definitely was not what I thought I was going to get into, but it gives me a lot of opportunity for growth. So, I’ll be starting mid-June and I’m looking forward to it.”
