Virginia Tech volleyball adds two more to 2018 class

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech head volleyball coach Jill Wilson has announced that Jennifer Williams and Tessa Wyner are joining the Hokies for the 2018-19 academic year.

Williams and Wyner come to Blacksburg as freshmen, concluding their prep careers last fall.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer and Tessa to our incoming freshman class,” Wilson shared. “In addition to the great potential to contribute at multiple positions, they both are top-notch students.”

Personal: Jennifer Ann Williams … Born Oct. 30, 1999 … Daughter of Dwayne and Jan … Sister of Victoria and Maria … Mother, Jan, played volleyball at East Tennessee State, earned SoCon Player of the Week and was tabbed a captain … Planning on majoring in the science field.

“Jennifer has great length and will develop quickly as she gets stronger with our strength coach," Wilson said. "She is versatile, playing multiple positions, and will be able to give us great depth. Jennifer is very analytical and will learn the college game quickly, and we are excited to have her part of our family.”

Personal: Tessa Anneliese Wyner … Born Nov. 30, 1999 … Daughter of Larry and Louida … Sister of Josh … Planning on majoring in biology with an emphasis on wildlife conservation or veterinary medicine.

“Tessa contacted me the first day I got the job at Tech," Wilson said. "Her passion has always been to play for the Hokies. Tessa is an extremely physical attacker at the net and she will add to our culture with her fight. We are proud to have a competitor like Tessa part of our program.”
