Tech travels north for ACC clash

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech men’s soccer team will travel to Newton, Mass. for an ACC matchup with Boston College on Friday night. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m., with coverage available on ACC Network Extra.

The Hokies enter the contest having won three consecutive games, the most recent of which came against Longwood on Tuesday night. Senior forward Marcelo Acuna broke a scoreless tie in the 55th minute, while freshman midfielder Justus Kauppinen added a late insurance goal to give Virginia Tech a 2-0 win.

Acuna, the reigning ACC Offensive Player of the Week has scored in three straight matches, bringing his season tally to seven.

Goalkeeper Ben Lundgaard made four saves to earn his second shutout of the season Tuesday night. The senior has compiled a 1.56 goals against average in net for the Hokies.

Boston College (3-6) is coming off a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Rhode Island on Tuesday. The Eagles are led in scoring by junior forward Simon Enstrom, who has collected five goals and two assists. Sophomores Heidar Aegisson and Younes Boudadi each have contributed five assists.

In goal, freshman Antonio Chavez Borrelli has seen most of the action for Boston College, owning a 1.92 goals against average and .681 save percentage.

Tech will continue their road swing with a non-conference matchup against South Carolina on Tuesday. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
