Virginia Tech returns to Thompson Field Oct. 17 for the first time since Oct. 4 to begin a three-match homestand against Miami ... The match begins at 7 p.m. and is part of the Kick It to Cancer promotion ... The team asks that fans wear pink apparel to bring awareness to breast cancer.

The Hokies enter the weekend 12-2-1 overall and 4-2 in conference action... Miami is 5-8 on the season and 2-4 in ACC play ... Tech is ranked 12th in the NSCAA poll and 11th in the TopDrawerSoccer.com poll.

Last Time Out: No. 7 Clemson 3, No. 9 Virginia Tech 2

The Hokies dropped a close one at No. 7 Clemson, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon ... Alani Johnson scored on a header from Kallie Peurifoy and Candace Cephers scored unassisted for the Hokies, but Clemson scored in the final 11 minutes for the win.

Head coach Chugger Adair relied heavily on associate head coach Drew Kopp and assistant coach Matt Gwilliam prior to the win over Duke, for a very good reason ... On Friday, Adair and his wife, Shelbylynn, welcomed the birth of their their second child, son Austin Tate Adair ... Shelbylynn is an assistant coach on the Virginia Tech volleyball team.

The Hokies vs. Miami

The Hokies are 8-3-4 all-time against Miami ... Tech has won the last two meetings and has not lost in the last four mmetings (3-0-1) ... The Hokies defeated Miami, 2-0, in Coral Gables last season ... Tech is 6-1 in home games in the series and is 3-0-1 against the Hurricanes under Chugger Adair ...
