Emery, Magarity included on All-Tournament team as Hokies fall 65-57 in WNIT's Championship

BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA – Virginia Tech concluded the 2017-18 basketball season in front of a record crowd of 13,007 at Assembly Hall in the WNIT Championship game, falling just short of the title, 65-57.

Taylor Emery led all scorers in the game with 23 points on 8 of 16 shooting, but it was the Hoosiers who went home with the hardware as four starters scored in double figures and timely 3-point shooting in the fourth quarter earned the Hoosiers a WNIT crown.

Tech struggle early finding an offensive rhythm and never truly seemed to find the same groove it had been in on this postseason run, committing 17 turnovers.

Regan Magarity grabbed 15 rebounds for the Hokies who had a 40-33 advantage on the glass in the game, which vaulted her into first place all-time in Tech history with 864.

After the Hokies cut the deficit to three points in the fourth quarter, Indiana scored back-to-back 3-point baskets from Bendu Yeaney and Amanda Cahill, the Hoosiers’ only triple of the game.

Jaelynn Penn recorded a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and tournament MVP Tyra Buss scored 16 points and tallied five rebounds and two assists.
