Emery's late game heroics propel Tech into WNIT Championship game

The Virginia Tech women' s basketball team is headed to the finals of the WNIT for the first time in program history following its 64-61 victory over West Virginia Wednesday night.

With 30 seconds on the clock, Kenny Brooks called a timeout to draw up one last play, with the Hokies trailing by a point. Out of the break, Rachel Camp found Taylor Emery who dribbled around a screen and fired an open 3-point jumper from the top of the key. Her shot was pure, reclaiming the lead for the Hokies, who went on to claim victory and advance to the WNIT Championship on Saturday afternoon against the Indiana Hoosiers.

Emery led all scorers in the game with 23 points, 18 of which came in the second half after being limited in the first due to foul trouble.

Regan Magarity recorded her 16th double-double of the season recording 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Tech won the battle on the boards, grabbing 41 rebounds to the Mountaineers' 38. The Hokies allowed just 37.8 percent shooting from the field and only four made 3-pointers from West Virginia, a team that averages seven per contest.

The Hokies will play at Indiana on Saturday, March 31 at 3 p.m. for the WNIT title. That game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
