COLUMBUS, Ohio – Five Hokies earned All-American Honorable Mention honors on Friday evening at the 2018 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio.

Sophomore Reka Gyorgy got the event session started with a 16th place finish in the 400 IM, turning in a time of 4:12.02 to earn the first honorable mention honors of the night.

The Hokies concluded the session in the 200 medley relay where Klaudia Nazieblo, Joelle Vereb, Maggie Gruber and Adriana Grabski finished 14th with a time of 1:37.69 as the squad picked up their second honorable mention honors of the meet. The same quartet finished 15th in the 400 medley relay on Thursday.

Vereb also placed 22nd overall in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.14 while Chloe Hicks was 34th in the 100 back in 53.24.

On the boards, Ashley Buchter was 40th in the 3-meter (276.45) and Ashlynn Peters placed 46th (232.60).

Virginia Tech will wrap up the NCAA Championships on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m., competing in the 200 backstroke, the 100 freestyle, 200 butterfly, platform diving and the 400 free relay.
