Entering her second year at Virginia Tech, Shimp helped the Hokies engineer the most successful season in 18 years in 2017 by winning 11 games which included two ACC victories. The 2017 squad also set program records for goals and points scored. During her time with Sung at Winthrop, Shimp helped the squad reach the NCAA Tournament in the program?s third season of competition, as the Eagles registered a 17-4 record in 2015, claiming both the Big South regular-season and tournament titles in the process. In 2016, Winthrop went 20-3, again winning both the regular-season and Big South Tournament titles and advancing to another NCAA Tournament. A 2009 graduate of The Ohio State University, Shimp was a four-year member of the varsity lacrosse team and earned American Lacrosse Conference All-Tournament honors in 2007 and 2008. She was a second-team all-conference selection in 2007. Shimp earned a spot on the All-Big Ten Academic Team member in 2008 and was also honored on the American Lacrosse Conference Academic Team in 2007 and 2008. A Buckeye Power Club Recipient in 2007 and 2008 while at Ohio State, Shimp interned at Ohio State in the camp office and in event management in 2008-09. The Endwell, New York native earned her master?s degree in sport administration from Louisville in 2011. While in Louisville, she served as assistant varsity and junior varsity lacrosse coach for two years at Du Pont Manual High School. She also was as project manager and game day operations assistant for the Louisville Lightning professional indoor soccer team. In addition, she possesses other event management experience, having worked as an operations intern for the American Junior Golf Association in Braselton, Georgia during the summer of 2010.
