Responsibilities: Doolan helps coordinate all the sports medicine needs for the Virginia Tech football program and for the men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs.

Joined VT Staff: 2001

At Virginia Tech: Doolan came to Tech in 1999 to work on his master’s degree, and he served as a graduate assistant in the Tech training room for two years. He helped with the football program as an assistant trainer during that time, and once he landed a full-time job in 2001, he became the trainer for the men’s basketball team. He later switched roles, moving into his current role as a trainer for the football team.

Prior to Virginia Tech: Doolan worked for two years in the training room at Tusculum while working on his undergraduate degree.

Education: Tusculum College, 1999 (B.A. in physical education, with a concentration in athletic training); Virginia Tech, 2000 (master’s in health promotion).

Personal: A native of Roanoke, Va., Doolan is married to former Virginia Tech women’s basketball standout Amy Wetzel Doolan, who is a doctor in the Montgomery County area and who was inducted into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2012. They have two children – a son named Parker and a daughter named Maudie – and live in Blacksburg.
