BLACKSBURG – Winners of four of its last five games, Virginia Tech will head to Lynchburg for a midweek clash with Liberty at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17. The game will be streamed on the WatchESPN platform and an audio stream will be available on HokieSports.com.

The Hokies (19-24) are coming off of a three-game sweep of Virginia last weekend, their first sweep in Charlottesville since 2007. It was also the Hokies’ first ACC road sweep since winning three-straight at Georgia Tech in 2014. Sophomore Carrie Eberle was the standout performer for Tech at the plate, where she hit .467 (7 for 15), and in the circle, where she went 3-0 with an 0.64 ERA.

Last week, the Hokies defeated Liberty at Tech Softball Park in eight innings, 1-0, on a walk-off RBI double from senior Caroline Schoenewald that scored freshman Casey Barrett from second base. Eberle spun a one-hit complete game shutout in the victory. The Flames (32-13) are currently tied for the lead in the Big South with a 12-3 conference record.

The Hokies will return home to Tech Softball Park this weekend for their inaugural series against Duke from April 20-22. Sunday’s game will be Senior Day where the program will honor Caroline Schoenewald, Jessie Mehr, Breanna Davenport, Whitney Metz and Mikaela Aiken.
