New seatbacks installed behind home plate at Tech Softball Park

BLACKSBURG – Thanks to an anonymous donation, the Virginia Tech softball program will have new seats with seatbacks in the section behind home plate at Tech Softball Park this season.

With construction of the Virginia Tech softball program’s new batting facility well underway, Hokie softball fans will also see new seats with seatbacks added to the section behind home plate at Tech Softball Park this season.

"Continuing to grow our program means upgrading our facilities, not only for training but for the fan experience as well,” head coach Scot Thomas said. “These seats will give our diehard fans a greater comfort while watching us play at Tech Softball Park from behind the plate. I would like to thank the anonymous donor that made this happen and we look forward to making the fan experience increasingly better at TSP for the best fans in the ACC!"

Completed in the fall of 1997, Tech Softball Park will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2018. TSP’s 20th season will also coincide with the Hokies’ 2008 ACC championship and Women’s College World Series team.

With the fall season in the books, fans can next see the Hokies at the fourth annual Hit-A-Thon on Friday, Oct. 27, at Tech Softball Park. Fans can sponsor student-athletes, the “Voice of the Hokies” Jon Laaser, Director of Athletics Whit Babcock and other celebrity hitters in a bracket style competition with all proceeds benefitting the softball program.
