Former JMU star honored as one of 25 members.

RICHMOND, Va. - Virginia Tech’s new assistant men’s soccer coach, Patrick McSorley, has been honored by the Colonial Athletic Association to its Silver Anniversary men’s soccer team, as announced by the league last week.

As part of its 25th Anniversary celebration in 2009-10, the CAA is recognizing Silver Anniversary teams in 21 championship sports, selected by a panel of current and former head coaches in the conference.

McSorley was recognized among the 25-member squad, which features 19 All-Americans and 13 CAA Players of the Year.

McSorley played for James Madison University as a forward from 1992-95. He earned NSCAA All-America and All-South Atlantic Region honors in 1995 and finished his career as JMU’s all-time leader in goals (42) and points (103). Additionally, he led JMU to a 73-14-6 record, four NCAA Tournament appearances and three CAA titles.

Prior to joining the Hokie staff, McSorley spent five years as an assistant coach and one year as an associate head coach at his alma mater.
