Mark Lawrence Jr. tied for 64th after first round at Raleigh

Virginia Tech men’s golfer Mark Lawrence Jr., shot an opening round 5-over 76 and is tied for 64th place at the NCAA Raleigh Regional on Monday. The three-day tournament is being played at the par 71, 7,273-yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Lawrence opened the round with a birdie on the par 5, 578-yard first hole and made the turn at 1-over. He trails leader Doug Ghim of Texas by 12 strokes. Lawrence is competing in the NCAA Raleigh Regional as an individual.

Lawrence returns to the course on Tuesday morning, with a 9:53 a.m. tee time to begin his second round. He will begin from the first tee and is grouped with Alex Ross of Campbell and Paolo Matti of Iona.
