Hokies meet Crimson Tide in NCAA Tournament

The Virginia Tech men's basketball team, the eighth seed in the East Region, takes on ninth seed Alabama in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament on Thursday night, March 15 at 9:20 p.m. The game, to be played in the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, will be televised by TNT.

TONIGHT’S GAME
The Hokies enter the game 21-11 overall and was 10-8 in ACC play. Alabama is 19-15 overall and was 8-10 in SEC play.

THE SERIES
Tech is 5-9 all-time against the Crimson Tide. Tech won the last meeting, 76-75, on Dec. 5, 1989 in Cassell Coliseum. The Hokies are 1-1 against Alabama in post-season play. Tech lost to Alabama in the 1977 NIT in Madison Square Garden, but beat the Tide in the semifinals of the 1973 NIT, which the Hokies won. Tech has never played Alabama under Buzz Williams.
