Virginia Tech vs. Miami Game Notes

Virginia Tech closes out the 2014-15 regular season Saturday in Cassell Coliseum, as the Hokies host Miami on Senior Day. The game, scheduled for a noon tip-off, will be televised by regional sports networks. Hokie seniors Will Johnston and Christian Beyer will be honored before the game, with ceremonies beginning at 11:45 a.m.

About Today’s Game

The Hokies enter today’s game 10-20 overall and 2-15 in ACC action … Miami is 19-11 overall and 9-8 in conference play … This is the second meeting of the season between the two schools, as Miami defeated the Hokies, 76-52, in Coral Gables last month.

Last Game: Boston College 66, VT 59

The Hokies lost to Boston College, 66-59, on Monday night in Cassell Coliseum … Adam Smith led the Hokies with 22 points in the loss … Tech out rebounded the Eagles, 29-27, and committed just nine turnovers.

Series Against the Hurricanes

This will be the 28th meeting between the two schools, in a series that dates back just to 2000 … The Hurricanes lead the all-time series, 15-12 … Tech has lost the last two games in the series, including a 76-52 loss in Coral Gables two and a half weeks ago … Virginia Tech is 6-5 against Miami in home games, all being played in Cassell Coliseum … All of the previous 27 meetings have been played prior to Virginia Tech joining the Big East Conference in 2000.

Thank You Seniors

Today, the Hokies will honor senior players Will Johnston and Christian Beyer … Both players joined the program as walk-ons, but through their hard work, have been awarded scholarships … Joining the two players being honored will be senior managers Josh Chambers and Jolie Kipper … The Virginia Tech Athletics Department would like to congratulate all four individuals and thank them for their dedication and service to the Hokies.
