Hokies remain 12th in Inside Lacrosse Poll following ACC Tournament

BLACKSBURG – Following the ACC Tournament in Durham, North Carolina, the Virginia Tech lacrosse team stayed in the 12th position in the Inside Lacrosse Poll on Monday. It is the third consecutive week that the Hokies have held that ranking.

In a season filled with firsts, the ACC Tournament provided a few more for the Hokies’ program. It marked the highest seed that the progam had ever earned, and Thursday night’s victory was Tech’s first in the competition since joining the league in 2005.

Tech placed two players on the All-Tournament Team; Paige Petty and Meagh Graham. Petty, a First Team All-ACC selection, led the Hokies in scoring over the weekend, tallying four goals and one assist in Tech’s 13-12 victory over Duke. She also tallied a goal in the semifinal round versus eventual champion North Carolina.

Graham, another All-ACC performer, tallied eight saves and four ground balls in the triumph over the Blue Devils. In the semifinals, Graham made 13 saves tying a season best and also recorded five ground balls and a caused turnover.

Senior defender Kristen Kohles scored the first goal of her career in her 72nd appearance against the Tar heels. She carried the ball over the restraining line for a successful clear and never stopped, working her way towards goal. It was the first shot of her career as well.
