SARAH LUBNOW #13
FALLS CHURCH, VIRGINIA
MIDFIELDER

Q: Why did you choose Virginia Tech?

LUBNOW: “I grew up a Hokie fan, both my parents went here and my older brother went here so its pretty much where I wanted to go my whole life and it ended up working out this way.”

Q: What was your favorite thing about your visit?

LUBNOW: “I loved everything but what really stood at to me the most would be all the resources they showed us that we would have to utilize here.”

Q: What do you like about Coach Sung and the lacrosse program?

LUBNOW: “Coach Sung brings a really good level of intensity where he pushes us to be our best every day. Even though he is hard on us we all know it’s because he cares about each one of us and wants us all to get better.”

Q: Who is your favorite lacrosse player?

LUBNOW: “Probably Megan Whittle, she coached a clinic I was at one time and she was really nice. She's an insane lacrosse player too!”

Q: What is your most memorable lacrosse moment?

LUBNOW: “Definitely winning the state championship my senior year. My teammates were my best friends and we all really pushed each other every day and had so much fun doing it. It all felt so worth it once we got the title.”

Q: What are some of your strengths on the field?

LUBNOW: “I am very good at transitioning the ball through the midfield from one side to another. I also really enjoy assisting my teammates on goals.”

Q: What interests you about studying business?

LUBNOW: “I am currently in business because I really enjoy doing math and I see myself ending up somewhere in the BIT (business information technology) area.”

Q: What’s one thing you’d want Virginia Tech fans to know about you?

LUBNOW: I once solved a Rubik’s cube in 30 seconds.

Q: What has been your favorite part about Virginia Tech so far?

LUBNOW: The first home football game was a really fun experience. I’ve also enjoyed getting to know all of my teammates.

BONUS ROUND:

Q: If you couldn’t play college lacrosse, what other team would you try out for?

LUBNOW: “I would try out for the basketball team. Britney Anderson (Virginia Tech women’s basketball assistant coach) was actually my AAU coach when I was in eighth grade.”

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?

LUBNOW: “What free time?”

Q: If you could choose any superpower what would it be and why?

LUBNOW: “I would want to read people’s minds because I would be able to know what they were thinking.”

Q: What kind of music do you listen to and who is your favorite artist?

LUBNOW: “I listen to all music but my favorite would be country. I love Zac Brown Band.”

Q: Why did you choose to wear number 13?

LUBNOW: “My freshman year of high school I really wanted number 13 because I had worn that number in the past but someone had already taken. My high school coach insisted that I should be 13 and she ended up being one of my biggest role models. Ever since then it’s kind of been a me and her thing.”

Q: What’s the story of the scar on your right arm?

LUBNOW: “When I was four years old I ran straight through a glass door. Forty-eight stitches later here I am.”
