Spring football next week, student tickets, Pro Day recap

BLACKSBURG – Are you ready for some football?

The Hokies will officially kick off their second spring practice under head coach Justin Fuente at 6 p.m. on March 21. Virginia Tech returns 37 letterwinners and 14 starters from last season’s squad that went 10-4 and captured a third straight bowl victory.

Mark your calendar for our 2017 Spring Football Kickoff Event at 1:30 p.m. on March 20. We’ll hear from Coach Fuente, as well as Bud Foster, Brad Cornelsen and returning members of the squad. As usual, we’ll provide live coverage on @VT_Football, as well as a live stream and recap on HokieSports.com. Make sure to download our spring preview package, along with updated rosters that will be posted on Monday.

Student tickets on sale at 10 a.m. on Monday

Virginia Tech students can purchase 2017 student season tickets beginning at 10 a.m. on March 20. Student tickets for the opening game of the 2017 season against West Virginia on Sept. 2 also will go on sale at that time. Check out all the details: vthoki.es/StudentTix

Hokies shine on Pro Day

It wasn’t exactly balmy in Blacksburg on Wednesday, but the Hokies heated up the Indoor Practice Facility with some solid performances for the NFL scouts and coaches in attendance.

Hokies Visit Margaret Beeks Elementary

Several members of the squad, including Wyatt Teller, Tim Settle, Sean Huelskamp and Sean Daniel participated in the Healthy Lifestyle Workshop at Margaret Beeks Elementary School this past week. The players met with third-graders and discussed diet, exercise and good decision-making.

Buzz Williams & Hokies’ hoops squad visits Bills

The Virginia Tech’s men’s basketball squad got a dose of the NFL on Tuesday when head coach Buzz Williams and the team were hosted by the Buffalo Bills at New Era Stadium and the ADPRO Sports Training Center Fieldhouse. The tour was led by Matt Worswick, currently the assistant to Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott. Worswich previously worked at Marquette during Coach Williams’ tenure there. Coach McDermott addressed the squad, as the Hokies made sure to get their photos in front of the lockers of Tyrod Taylor and Logan Thomas.
